Inductive charging, designed to standard.
Large-gap, high-power WPT is where simulation fidelity matters most. AirInduct was built with EV designers in mind — model the full air gap, tolerate real-world misalignment, and land on SAE J2954 test points.

Can AirInduct Sim design EV charging pads?
AirInduct Sim can design the coil-coupling part of an EV wireless charging pad, but not the full pad with its ferrite and aluminium shielding. It solves air-core coil pairs in closed form, so you can size the transmitter and receiver, then check mutual inductance M, coupling k and induced voltage across the air gap in seconds. A lateral misalignment sweep shows how k falls as the car parks off-centre, and the AI Copilot can turn the result into a link budget with Q, kQ efficiency and SS, SP or LCC compensation capacitors at the 85 kHz SAE J2954 band. Real EV pads use ferrite back-plates and shield plates that raise inductance and reshape the field; AirInduct Sim does not model them, so treat its numbers as the air-core baseline and confirm the final pad in a general-purpose FEM EM simulator. Export the design as a SPICE netlist to simulate the power stage.
Air gap
Typical 100–200 mm ground clearance — the solver computes coupling factor for large-gap pads directly, without mesh refinement at the boundary.
Misalignment
Lateral-offset sweeps let you size the coil to stay above an efficiency threshold across the parking tolerance.
Standards: SAE J2954
WPT1 / WPT2 / WPT3 power classes are first-class presets at 85 kHz; geometry templates align with the standard's test points.
Thermal
Current-density maps flag hotspots before physical prototyping — useful when ferrite shielding is in the way.

Frequently asked questions
What frequency is used for EV wireless charging?
SAE J2954 and IEC 61980 standardise inductive EV wireless charging at 85 kHz (81.38–90 kHz operating band). AirInduct simulates this band directly with closed-form Biot–Savart, returning coupling coefficient k and field uniformity for any pad geometry.
Can AirInduct model lateral misalignment?
Yes. Sweep lateral X/Y offset and axial gap height (typically 100–250 mm for J2954), and the simulator re-solves k and M at every step. The coils stay coaxial with parallel planes; angular tilt is not modelled.
Is this a free alternative to FEM EM simulators for EV pads?
Yes. AirInduct covers the inductive WPT regime that drives most FEM-based EV-pad studies, runs in any browser and is free to start. It models air-core coils only, so FEM tools remain necessary for ferrite back-plates, aluminium shielding and coupled thermal validation.
Does AirInduct help with WPT1, WPT2 and WPT3 power classes?
Yes — set the target current and the simulator reports inductance, AC resistance, Q, coupling and a first-order thermal estimate consistent with the J2954 WPT1 (3.7 kW), WPT2 (7.7 kW) and WPT3 (11 kW) classes.
