Frequently asked questions
What does AirInduct Sim actually compute?
Magnetic field (B and H) from an analytical, mesh-free Biot–Savart solver, plus mutual inductance M, self-inductances L_tx and L_rx, coupling coefficient k, induced voltage and peak field from a Neumann mutual-inductance kernel with complete elliptic integrals. No FEM mesh, so results are deterministic and return in seconds. The AI Copilot adds link analysis (Q, kQ efficiency, compensation capacitors) on top of those values.
Which coil topologies are supported?
Eight: circular Helmholtz, square Helmholtz, circular DTC, square DTC and the four cross combinations (circular DTC ↔ Helmholtz, circular Helmholtz ↔ DTC, square DTC ↔ Helmholtz, square Helmholtz ↔ DTC). Multi-coil layouts and parameter sweeps run on top of the same kernel.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan gives you the Helmholtz topology with 3 simulations and 1 AI Copilot task a month. AirInduct Pro ($239.99 a year, $29.99 a month or $8.99 a week) unlocks every topology, the optimizer, 300 Copilot tasks a month, unlimited runs and the export formats.
How accurate is it compared with FEM tools?
Where a closed form exists, such as mutual inductance between coaxial circular loops, the solver evaluates it directly, so there is no discretisation error to quote. Where it integrates on a grid, as for square coils and self-inductance, its built-in check against Grover's formulas measures errors of up to about 4 %. We do not publish a head-to-head percentage against FEM packages; the method and its limits are on the validation page.
Can I use it offline?
A native desktop build for macOS, Windows and Linux is in development and will run the solver in-process with no network round-trip. Until it ships, the browser app is the way to run simulations.
Is there an API?
Programmatic access is through the AirInduct Sim Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at https://api.airinductsim.com/mcp/, so AI agents and scripts can run real coil simulations. API keys are issued from your account page; the MCP page lists every tool.
What can I export?
PDF reports, KiCad footprints, DXF geometry, SPICE netlists, and raw JSON or CSV of the computed field and lumped parameters.
Do you train models on my designs?
No. Your saved coils and calculation history belong to your account and are not used to train models. The privacy policy has the full detail on what is stored and for how long.
How do I delete my account?
From Account → Security in the app. Deletion removes your profile, saved coils, calculation history and any stored files, on the spot.
